View Full Version : Chimaira vs. "a mob of fans"

When I found out that Chimaira was going to do a show near my city I felt really excited that I get the oppertunity to see them live again. Every time I've seen them live I've had the chance to hang out and talk to them and just shoot the shit, and I feel that they were really friendly and treated me like a friend. But now that they have a DVD and they are becoming more popular. I worry that they will be mobbed with "Star Struck Fans" and I wont have the chance to hang out again. I'm sure that the guys in Chimaira look forward to mingling with the fans and partying, but I get the feeling that they will get bombarded with fans and may wanna spend more time on the bus...lol. Has anyone else thought about this? I hope when I go to Minneapolis to see them that I can bullshit with them for a lil while, that would definately make my 8 hour drive worth it. I'm sure that we will all get the oppertunity, but I just get this feeling that this will happen. Thats just something I guess we all have to deal with when our favorite bands get more popular. Everyone should get the oppertunity to hang out with these guys and appriciate how much they embrace their fans, but as time goes on that is going to become increasingly more difficult. Does anyone else have any thoughts about this?

I know whats up here, you fear the boys not looking in your eye after the DVD, its okay, we all fear it too, like some people fear Cheese & Dance Music.
:p
I talked to Rob & Matt(and saw Talley Tuning chicks) so if Chimaira come out here again and i dont get to talk of them, oh well.

i'll be at whatever show they're going to play in minnesota. never once have i had the chance to "shoot the shit" with the band. but seems like you always get to hang out with em, so i wouldn't doubt they'll remember you as one of the guys.

Hopefully next time they come here, I'll get a chance to meet them.

Ahh, the guys will probably remember you from last time, and if theres loads of monkeys asking for some autographs they will be bored of them. Go say hi and shit and they will notice you more then the autograph hunters.

i like the bus more then hanging out with fans, this has nothing to do with the dvd or the fact i am a cock. i do make it a point to go out and sign shit for fans, but i am not one to sit outside all night and hang out....or look you in the eye.
there are rare occasions where i will hang out, but they are rare.

jim remembered my cousin and i after hanging outside of the venues after the show a few times and meeting them at a guitar store once before thier show. i wonder if they actually remember the thousands of faces they meet?

I have met Mark about 4-5 times and every time he asks me if I have any spare change then just walks away. What the fuck.

that reminds me of the time i went to a convience store with him so he could get some smokes and he had the nerve to ask me to pay for them! of course i said yes and paid because ass tastes so good.

Yeah Mark, I know...you dont hang out...lol! I drove all the way to Chicago from Indianapolis to see you guys and you just walked straight on the bus. Dont blame ya though its all good. I mostly talk to Rob and Jim whenever I'm around Chimaira cuz they are the more talkative ones. Anyway, who else is going to the show in Minneapolis, maybe we could throw an afterparty? My buddy lives in that area, we could just crash his place! I could prolly get Talley to come...just tell him there will be lots of hot chicks and beer...LOL!

Im more worried about the fact that with their increasing popularity they may start doing like so many bands do and start playing only 4 0r 5 big venues in England and that's it. I love it when Chimaira play smaller venues and more of them. This would take away any worries of them getting harrassed by too many fans. I hope to God I get to hang out with Rob, Matt, Jim and Co. on all the dates like last time. It was fucking awesome.

In all seriousness, you just have to wait. After the San Antonio show last year, I waited about an hour for Mark to come off the bus after the show, but it was ok because as soon as he did, he made sure to sign every autograph and take every picture of every person that was waiting. He also talked to me for about an hour and was extremely easy to talk to. He and the rest of the guys have been like that after every show I have been to (I'm getting close to being in the 10 times club). You can't expect them to walk off the stage and start signing shit. They need to chill out for a while so you just have to be patient.

but did he look you in the eyes?! if he didn't i might feel a bit.. unacknowledged. i get to hang out backstage with trivium, hopefully chimaira for a bit also.
