Chimaira Guitarist Death Hoax

09 Feb 2005 Metal Hammer is pleased to report that Chimaira guitarist Rob Arnold did not die yesterday as a fake internet reports have suggested.

A fake news story has been circulating since yesterday afternoon stating that: "Chimaira guitarist Rob Arnold was found dead in car aged 25. Cleveland police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found following a suspected road accident in Co Roscommon this morning.

"The man, who is identified as 25 year old guitarist Rob Arnold, was found dead inside a vehicle that was spotted in a ditch by a passing motorist in Cloonfad East at around 9am. A post mortem is due to be carried out later today to determine the cause of his death."

Chimaira's publicist told Metal Hammer: "Rob's just fine and amused to learn of his death yesterday."

An official statement from the band is as follows:
"In more startling news, guitarist Rob Arnold has returned from the dead. Donations for his family are still being accepted."

I know you people don't want me on here but I'd like to apoligise for this nasty hoax. My friend thought it would be funny to post a thread called Rob Arnold Dead on the Metal hammer board, which was taken from a real story with just the age and name changed to fir Rob's description,

Anyway, he started this thread and didn't realise the noose is being tightened around the board because of a recent event where an underaged girl on the board met up with a 37 year old for sex and metal hammer got called up and so some serious bullshit went down. Anyway, because of all this shit the Rob Thread got blown in proportion and went around as an internet hoax. So sorry everyone who got scared and sorry Rob for such a horrible rumour about yourself, Im glad you all see the funny side. I just find it funny that something I and my friend wrote got spread around that quickly and made such a good hoax :p
