Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has heard any news on the Chimarira Australian tour coming up? I saw Chimaira in the 'coming soon' section for the Corner hotel in Melbourne and so know their coming, but haven't been able to find out any info on dates etc.

This would be the first i have heard about it.
A 'Coming soon section' in some pissant melbourne venue doesnt mean Chimaira are coming here dude.

When the 'pissant' venue is the same one that Opeth/Nightwish/Haunted/Dillinger Escape Plan/Devin Townsend/Shadows Fall/Entombed/As I lay Dying and countless other metal bands have played... who all started off in the 'coming soon' section... it does mean it's happening.

The only way this tour isn't happening is if it was confirmed and somehow got cancelled between when it was first confirmed and when the tix were supposed to go on sale. That is a relatively rare occurence. Dimmu Borgir is the last band where that happened in Australia.(they were supposed to tour early 2004... the tour got cancelled the day before tix went on sale)

I'll put it this way.... there is at least a 9/10 chance the tour is happening. Now i just need to know the dates!!

I heard a rumour about a May 26 show at the corner hotel aswell, but at this time, that's all it is, a rumour, theres also a rumour about them coming back in September. Keep checking chimaira.com, when it's official, it'll be on there!

Seeing it's on the coming soon section it means that show is official. But there is often a delay between gigs being confirmed and them being announced to the general public. I guess if they're coming at the end of may then it'll be announced sometime this coming week.

I just read somewhere else that they heard that the tour was pencilled in but they may be postponing until september. I guess we'll know for sure if there is no official announcement of dates in the next week or so. But at least we know they are planning to come back very soon even if it isn't next month. Will be eagerly awaiting their return...

we had australia booked for end of may, but since the record is not coming out until the fall, we had to postpone it until september. we are working on that now, it is not confirmed and does not mean we are 100% coming in september, but we are working on it.
we will be doing perth and brisbane this time around.

The Chimaira/Nile tour isn't coming here, sucks for you :D You coming to Melbourne? 'Cos you know I'll be there for fucking sure. And I highly doubt there being a Canberra show.

And who was it that referred to either Australia or New Zealand as the arsehole of the earth?

haha, yeah, but you'd be supprised of the amount of bands that have played at the ANU uni bar recently (which is great for me as its a ten min walk away)
However I'd be supprised myself if one of the future ones was Chimaira!

And as for the Melbourne show, your daughter is planing to have some kind of event/trouble/trauma to prevent you from attending.

They have tours until the end of October, and I dare say they'll hit Europe after that, seeing as they've only done two festivals and three small club shows this year. So I'm not expecting them to be here until next year.

Orsom....i'll be back in australia for the shows again....they kicked some ass at sounds of the underground last week....they really got the crowd going because Clutch played before Chimaira/LoG and the crowd pissed off (seriously, who put that shitty jam band on the bill?) but chimaira consumed everyone and tee'd it all up for LoG to destroy all.

Hopefully get to have a few beers with em again too

RoS
01-08-05, 08:39 AM
Hobart? I doubt it, no metal band will every fucking come here to play and the only ones worth mentioning would be AC/DC who played here ages ago and Tassie's own local band Pyscroptic who I have seen a couple of times.

When they do return I'll be going to the melbourne gig and will be up for meeting some folks off here!!!

Come on people, no need to get personal. We all know NSW people are up themselves and think the world revolves around Sydney, and that Queensland is just full of braindead dicks. And both like Rugby. 'Nuff said.

(All in the name of fun people, please do not take this seriously.)

Khalifa

Rugby Union has its roots as an upper class sport played in private schools - and is also followed by a higher proportion of high society than any other sport.

Say, look at the history of England (and current, as well as current day Australia), soccer is for commoners, and rugby is mainly played and followed by those with more sophistication and wealth from the better schools and areas. And as for that shite aerial ping pong of a sport AFL, lets not even go there, eh?

Sydney is the Metal capital of Australia.

Meaning there is no real need for Canberra, where I currently am...

They always play in Sydney because it's the biggest city, and therefore has the biggest potential for decent crowds, and therefore decent money. Melbourne almost always gets shows as well because it's not that much smaller than Sydney, and it's less than an hour's flight away. Don't gimme that metal capital crap. :-)

Melbourne has a bunch of godfathers shooting each other!

Brisbane has Kyth, and you are jealous of him, which is why you have a distaste towards it!

Sydney is a multicultural slum, full of pill poppers and baby rapists!

Adelaide has that David Hicks guy.

Perth has inbreds....

Yeah, but it got much worse early last year. It usually took me about 20-30 minutes to get from Revesby to Kogarah, but as of Febuary 2004, it took more like 2 hours, fuck that. Also, my TAFE teachers constantly lied to me, they begged me not to quit, convinced me I would suceed, when I clearly wouldn't. You go to TAFE right now, so i'm sure you can agree, that they only try to make things as difficult as possible for you. ;)
