sup yall. being a guitar player i am a FOOL for heavy, brutal riffs. what are your favs on TIOR? Stigmurder tends to be my favorite. the whole song is just pummeling! and Overlooked!!! that middle part is just wicked with the harmonics and harmonies. but one that i always fastforward to is the end breakdown in eyes of a criminal. such a simple riff, yet it is torturous! and not to mention the drums. i love it live as soon as they are about to rip that part up and Rob dive bombs the whammy right into it! it gives me chills! hit me back folks. peace!
dehumanizing or eyes i guess

I thought the heaviest sounding riff that was "supposed" to be on tior (if it was it would have still been) was the start to stays the same. Thats fuking heavy, overlooked is awsume to play along to, its fun alot of the time to play implements even though its a long song its awsume to jam to, over and over and over.

All of the ones you guys listed, and i also like the beginning of Pictures in the Gold Room, and the end of pure hatred.
that middle part of overlooked, with harmonics...its amazing!
and the verse riff of the dehumanizing process

different record but the end of jade
but for imposs end of eyes.
the opening riff for pictures is pretty heavy too.
to me heavy is slow and sludgy making it feel like you have 1,000 pounds on your back. stigmurder, there is nothing heavy about that song. it just brutal.

If so.
Whats not heavy about the start of stays the same? ITs fucking sick.
Who here agrees the start of that song is heavy as fuck?

I think Stays the Same is a good song, but I can understand why it wasn't put on The Impossibility of Reason. Speaking of b-sides, Army of Me is a fucking hard song.

Army of Me is bad ass

agreed, army of me rocks, too bad it is on freddy vs. jason soundtrack, otherwise i'd listen to it a lot more often.. its definately in rotation on the mp3 player though.

Most heavy riff i think is either the chorus or end of Eyes for me. But most brutal, either overlooked or stigmurder. This will change with the new album... (H)

The part about heavy...makes complete sense coming from a Crowbar fan :D Now that band = "None Fucking Heavier".

I'm gonna have to say that the heaviest riff in general by Chimaira would be either Divination or This Present Darkness... but on TIOR the best one in my opinion is The Dehumanizing Process. great track, but an even better DVD.

stays the same is decent, but not a patch on the other stuff, which is why it shouldn't have been on the cd.

Army of Me is a great song, I'm glad to see that Chimaira play it live, unlike Stays the Same.

There are alot of heavy riffs in TIOR but no one has mentioned Crawl yet. that starts off pretty heavy. Eyes of a criminal probably wins though for heavy riffs.

I love every riff and solo on Implements of Destruction.
2 minutes 19 seconds into Eyes of a Criminal and most of the riffs in Pictures in the gold room.

i'm gonna have to say "pictures in the golden room" on that one.

The final main riff variation on 'Cleansation'. Where Andols goes into a stomp, slows down his drums, awesome.
The opening of Pictures In The Gold Room.
The chorus of the title track.
The breakdown riff in Pure Hatred.
I love the riffs from Eyes Of A Criminal, Overlooked, Stigmurder and The Dehumanizing Process and also the riff to Powertrip is simple but killer. Where can i get the song STAYS THE SAME from? its not on my cd! did they rerelease the album with that song on it? i have only heard that song in the menu of the dvd.

also if you have the DEHUMANIZING PROCESS dvd, if you let it just chill on the title screen with the fire rolling, it will start playing (stays the same) i remember i put it in, did some stuff, came back and it was like playing and stuff. so that was pretty neat. i love all of you

agreed, and one of my favourite riffs of all time... i also love the little bits that seperate the verse from chorus, dawn thats so unique and fun to play.

Well done to javiINFLAMES for finally mentioning Cleansation - that track is full of heavy riffs - the chorus riff is the heaviest bit in my opinion.

Word, man. Completely agree. It's pretty shocking to see that Cleansation hasn't been mentioned in this thread much at all.

Pictures is fucking legendary, but I mean I got this personal connection to the track with my two friends. We've always done the stabbing motion (stick a knife in your enemy) to the riff and we always jam it at practice... Man we've had some good times with the DVD and the record itself. Fuck yeah, pictures riff.

Haha...on the "Dehumanizing Process" DVD band commentary, it says that Matt had already learnt the riff for the "Stick A Knife..." thing before they filmed Rob "teaching" it to him.
In fact, he composed the riff himself.
Ridiculous. :O

LOOOL. Funny. But it is still a badass riff and should be made into a song. Great hook.

dude, i forgot all about band commentary. i am gonna have to check it out because i am sure that there is tons more stuff on it that would be cool to know. by the way Cleansation is a definite hard hitter!!! that song makes my heart pound for real!! and Andols tears it up the whole time. amazing. and vocals on TIOR are simply amazing. and with Nothing Remains, Mark was right when he said something along the lines of, "everyone is getting better and better at their instruments." indeed
sunshinethewerewolf
10-06-05, 08:58 AM
I totally agree. Not only that, but I think that Chimaira are becoming better song writers too - Nothing Remains is clear evidence.

Theres a riff Rob's playing on his bed in the DVD, and in the commentary he says he wants to use it on the next record i think. Lol, it'll be interestin to see if thats on there.

i cant believe noone has mentioned power trip yet, that song is non stop brutality. apart from that the main riff in pure hatred is fucking killer annnd chorus to title track. that bit in nothing remains in the middle where they play that main riff with slower drums is fucking crushing.
Dehumainzing Process, that song just fuckin kicks ass
