They might have announced a show or two in kangaroo-nation but I'm not sure. There are other kangoorians on the board that could clarify this for you. I know theres a thread out there but I won't bother looking for it...since I'm awesome and all.

Chimaira has been one of the most consistently heavy and dedicated bands in metal for the past decade. With their latest release, The Infection, the Ohio sextet has further honed their sound to one of punishing brutality.

The US sextet is set to return to Australia in January 2010 to once again destroy venue stages and drive audiences into a frenzy with their patented brand of ferocious precision.

On The Infection, they have delivered a cinematic sonic rollercoaster with machine-gun drumming as tight as a mosquito’s ass, guitar work that hits the ears like a punch in the guts, and venomous vocals that are both tortured and threatening. This all adds up to a sound that the band has described as a “circle pit inside a burning ballroom.”

This is Chimaira’s first headlining Australian tour, having supported their peers In Flames, Biohazard & Korn on their last two trips Down Under. As thousands of Chimairians can attest, Chimaira live are untouchable, and their first headline tour of Australia will prove that fact yet again.

The Infection, released in April via Riot Entertainment, entered both the Aria & JB Hi Fi Charts.

Infection Dates:

Wed Jan 13 - Capital Perth
with special guests TBA

Thurs Jan 14 - Fowlers Live - Adelaide Licensed All Ages
with special guests Double Dragon and local supports TBA

Fri Jan 15 - Billboard - Melbourne Over 18’s
Sat Jan 16 - Billboard - Melbourne Under 18s Afternoon Show

Sun Jan 17 - The Hi- Fi Brisbane

Mon Jan 18 - The Metro Sydney Licensed All Ages

Im not supposed to know it, but i do, it will get announced next week.
Messugggah, clutch, trivium & Enter shikari are supposed to be on it as well, but the guy who told me said theres a 'backup list' (alot of bands pull out) and hes not sure which list messuggah & trivium is on. Shikari & Clutch for sure i think.
Edit: i know how to spell meshuggah, i just dont like them and dont care how to spell it. :P

ShadowStalker47
05-08-09, 08:58 PM
Not really stoked on any of those bands. Enter Shikari are SO overrated, Trivium are so 2005, and i've never really listened to much Messuggah or Clutch. I may check them out soon though if its true.

Sepultallica9
06-08-09, 02:45 AM
Clutch aren't bad, I dunno if you'd like 'em though Zach. Meshuggah I would categorize as progressive death metal, but not in the vein of Opeth. Trivium I'm not fussed about. Enter Shitari can fuck off haha. FNM and Meshuggah make it worthwhile for me.

That has to be the only excuse for saying a $65 ticket is expensive. Thats fucking laughable especially the amount we had to pay to see Chimaira the last time.

ShadowStalker47
16-08-09, 10:25 PM
Dude.. whats your problem? I'll give you as little run down of a few things.

Im not working at the moment and im receiving a bit of cash every second week for doing a Tafe course.

With that little bit of money im getting im helping out my family now that my dad is sick and cant work.

I paid $50 to see Parkway Drive, The Acacia Strain, Sucidie Silence and A Day To Remember in the same venue... Chimaira are the only overseas band on this bill.

That $50 is the most i've ever paid to see a band... I was just shocked that Chimaira was going to be so expensive but not once did I say I wouldnt go because of it.

I have my ticket (and my mates ticket) and im looking forward to going!

End of story.

StMoolah
16-08-09, 10:45 PM
and those bands are LOCAL. $65 is fucking cheap. I dont care what your financial situation is. $65 is not expensive for an international band.

ShadowStalker47
16-08-09, 10:56 PM
Acacia Strain, A Day To Remember and Suicide Silence are Australian now are they?

It was $50 for those 3 bands on the same bill at the same venue.. and Chimaira on their own are $15 more expensive. I was simply wondering why it was gonna be so different... it was never going to dictate if I went or not.

Infected
16-08-09, 11:01 PM
Got my ticket for melb, soo exited, and lol at nick for the underage show but..... i was thinking of doing the same thing, would you need id saying you are under 18 or could you just kinda walk in???

StMoolah
16-08-09, 11:10 PM
I never said it would, im saying $65 for an international band is CHEAPER than average going prices.
The headlining band of that tour is a LOCAL band, so youll be paying less than an international band.
It doesnt work by how many bands are on the bill. It works on the Headliner (or in some case Co-Headliners) and how much they think(or in some cases their management) they can charge. For example, earlier this year Bleeding Through/Between The Buried and me co headlined(and in this case i use the term 'co' loosely) Tickets were $40 in cities, $30 in Regional places because the headlining band is metalcore as fuck and had (at the time) an ikilledthedragqueen guitarist so they were advertising for the broke dance dance revolution kiddies to go to the show. Same thing happend when Misery Signals came out 2 months later (minus $10) As Chimaira fit closer towards the metal side and their audience is seen as older prices go up.
Metalcore shows usually have more bands for your buck cause broke people such as myself need a financially incentive to put up with the karate kids busting a move as well as advertising scene points for said kids.

What im saying is. Stop complaining. $65 is nothing for a metal show, the only time your likely to pay less for a metal show is during festival sideshows or back when we werent in a global recession.

Happy Time Harry
16-08-09, 11:16 PM
God damn! That's an expensive ticket price!

ShadowStalker47
16-08-09, 11:26 PM
lol. good Harry.

I can actually see the sense in what you are saying Moolah, BUT if it is about the fan base being older than why is there an underage gig? If I was 15 and still relying on my parents to buy me shit, I doubt i'd be able to make it to this show. I remember my parents buying my Atreyu and 36 Crazyfists ticket for me (which was $45), and they said 'we wouldnt have if it was anything dearer'.

I've been to about 6 or 7 major gigs in the past few years, and this is the most expensive by $15. Why wouldnt I wonder why?

That would be awesome to go the underage gig Nick lol. Underage shows are so much cooler because everybody just cuts sick to the bands and you dont have half the audience drunk out of their minds by the end of the show. At that Atreyu gig I got asked 'are you sure you're under 18?' and im like '... yeah im pretty sure I just turned 16 thanks'.

Hopefully they've fixed the only problem I had with Billboard last time. I couldnt go to the toilet all night because instead of going outside (passouts were allowed), everybody just smoked in the toilets. I opened the door and the whole thing was a sea of people hidden amongst a haze os smoke.

Sepultallica9
16-08-09, 11:42 PM
God damn! That's an expensive ticket price!

The exchange rate plus the fact that we live in the opposite corner of the world to basically everything means everything is more expensive, like shows and CD's. On the plus side, we get paid more than you do too!

Zach, to give you an idea, recently I've paid $60 for Kreator, $80 for Arch Enemy/Suffocation/Winds Of Plague and $85 for Lamb Of God/Devildriver/Shadows Fall. They're all around the normal mark for international bands around here.

ShadowStalker47
16-08-09, 11:55 PM
Arh ok, fair enough Nick. This is actually going to be the first METAL gig i've been to in the city. Hopefully I dont look too out of place haha.

Happy Time Harry
17-08-09, 12:03 AM
I'm just so used to paying like 15-20 bucks for a ticket. The most I've ever paid for is $60 (plus convenience charges) for Blink-182, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco and those are some HUGE named US bands too. I take the pricing for granted I guess.

ShadowStalker47
17-08-09, 12:22 AM
Yeah we had Bleeding Through come through Aus with Between The Buried and Me and As Blood Runs Black and it was only $20. It actually came through my town as well so unlike the Melb gigs, I dont have to pay for the train and a hotel as well.

I actually thought the reason Chimaira might be as pricey as it is because of how big the band has gotten. Exactly the reason why I have no problems paying whatever to see them this time around :)

StMoolah
17-08-09, 01:37 AM

Infected

lol.. Well I want St.kilda in it because I like them, but on recent form I believe that Collingwood deserve the spot over them. Bulldogs have been better than the Cats (aside from that 5 point loss to the Eagles) and they deserve a spot too.

I was just wondering if i were to buy tix for the under18's melb show, would i need some kind of proof saying im under 18 or would i pretty much be able to just walk in. The fear of being stopped and asked for id and then not being allowed in is all thats stopping me from getting a ticket lol HELLLP!!!!

I'm not Australian or anything but I'm pretty sure you'd be required to be 18 in order to even BUY the ticket in the first place. I think the ticket would be your proof!

I've always used my mum or dads credit card to purchase tickets, so im not sure about the whole 'you have to be over 18 to buy them' thing. If you had no ID with you they couldnt prove that you were overage. How old do you look Infected?... lol that sounded funny.

Well how else could they prove that you are 18? lol

I kind of dont understand why its STRICTLY under 18. If you manage to get into an over age gig and you drink then the club itself can be in a lot of trouble. If you are over age and get into an under 18 gig... what are you really going to do other than watch the band and hit on 16 year olds?

If you are really stressed about this, maybe you can get your hands on someone's school ID.......like if you have a younger brother or know someone who looks similar to you? Im not trying to bring up the argument again but... I just discovered something interesting. Was cleaning out my room and I came across an old ticket on the ground. It was for that Parkway, Suicide Silence, A Day To Remember and Acacia Strain show. I had always thought i'd paid $50 for the ticket. I was wrong. $36 for those 4 bands plus a local band opening. So... Chimaira is almost double for pretty much just themselves. And once again I have to add that I DONT MIND PAYING THAT MUCH TO SEE THEM, but I find the price differences interesting.

Yeah, but, PWD etc.. To be honest, Chimaira are bigger.
And its also where they play.

Does anybody think this could be the fault of the venue and not ticket sales? Chimaira has such a large fanbase over here that I doubt the majority is over 18. Most pubs and bars hate having underrage gigs because they dont profit while they're one because nobody is buying drinks. If the venue had a winge and cancelled the gig, kids would be in revolt. If you say 'ticket sales were low', there isnt much anybody can do but accept it. Just a thought...

Infected
08-01-10, 06:05 PM
Yer i can see your point, but the fact they were offering a 2 for 1 deal on tix shows it probablyy wasn't selling well, also someone was saying they spoke to the promoters and they said that they were considering cancelling it a while ago.
But now im gonna enjoy the 18+ more because it's my only chance to see them :)

Sepultallica9
08-01-10, 06:50 PM
It's entirely possible that it wasn't a great idea for the venue, but if that was the case, they wouldn't have booked and under 18 gig in the first place. I would that thought anyway.

i was afraid that the lack of crowd leading into their set was going to ruin the atmosphere a bit, i couldn't have been more wrong. People appeared out of nowhere, still not near capacity but it filled up a hell of a lot and i haven't enjoyed myself at a gig that much in a long time. Was great to see Mark smiling that much, looked like he was really enjoying himself. Kicking myself i didn't buy one of the meet and greet passes, ESPECIALLY when i was in the parking garage until 1ish waiting for the fucken RACV to come and help me out! Great setlist and fucking PAINTING THE WHITE TO GREY, pretty sure we can thank the lack of destroy and dominate and disappearing sun for that, but hearing that introduced just smashed my nuts off.

I'd imagine they'd do the meet and greet at the other shows too. They must have made a killing on those things at $20 a pop!

Now that I'm a little more coherent, I can say honestly that that was one of the best gigs I have been to in my life. They genuinely looked like they were absolutely stoked with the reaction they got from the crowd, and I get the feeling it won't be long before they do another headlining show. Every one of them was friendly and approachable during the meet and greet too.

I got the chopper shirt and the meet and gree.t I'll post my photos later. Meet and greet was incredible. I had so many questions I wanted to ask but I totally froze up haha. Had a chat with Jim about the zoo and I told him to be careful of Australian wildlife because over here things end up in your shoe a lot. Rob called me weak because I didnt come and see them with Korn in 08 lol.

Highlights in the setlist for me were Resurrection, Salvation, Severed, Secrets Of The Dead (which I never really loved on cd but is AMAZING live), Implements and The Flame. Hell ALL of it was fantastic. Hopefully they come back soon rather than later.

Question for the Melbourne dudes, what did you think of The Rose Line and Double Dragon? I wasnt really suprised. I really enjoyed The Rose Line and cant wait for their debut album htis year, and Double Dragon bored me after 2 songs. holy shit. that was one of the best gigs ive been to (dark tranquillity back in 06 will be undefeated). same set list as above, chris put me on the door with a meet and greet pass, after the gig i was with everyone else who had the pass. was in front of the line, mark, chris, rob and matt remembered me from the korn gig 2 years ago, rob said he loved how i photoshopped my head into their TIOR promo pic (my sig), mark asked me about their christmas package they sent me (autographed dvd, stickers and a condom for the night i lost my virginity, i told them i used it on myself), and got a photo with the band. only got to talk to them for about 5 mniutes before i was ushered along, but it was pretty awesome. got my meet and greet pass signed by everyone. hung out outside near their shuttle bus but it looked like they werent leaving for another hour so i bailed.

seeing them in an intimate venue was amazing, can't wait til they come back again. they had a bigger audience than Every Time I Die on wednesday night. tried to put the moves on some chick by telling her i knew the band but it failed.

i'm fucking drunk. and broke. fuck yeah chimaira. my throat is fucked from screaming, my arms are fucked from throwing up the horns, but it was all worth it

Nice one Eddie, glad you had a good time mate.

I thought The Rose Line were meh, nothing that interesting. Spent most of their set in line for merch. DD were good, though Lee's vocals are fairly mono which gets a bit annoying after a while. A couple of their tunes were a bit more melodic though which was a nice surprise. I introduced myself to him afterwards and he gave a me a hug and said g'day, when we were interrupted by his woman, who was either hot-as-fuck or skanky-as-fuck, I haven't decided yet.

I told Spicuzza that I was an admin on the board, and he said he'd totally forgot about the board, and asked if it still worked and if people still visit haha! I said Severity was running it just fine and it's still going.

EDIT: Also noted to Infected that during the little bit where I was on the barrier during The Rose Line, the lead guitarist broke into some serious crabcore during the breakdowns haha.

Awesome show, had a great time.

Got a meet and greet pass. Didn't bother taking my camera (I should have), but I got a small tour poster and my pass signed, so it was worth it. Got a couple of (phone-quality) photos on my phone too:

Currently at work after getting around 2 hours sleep. Was well worth it though. Awesome night, I think I told Jim it was the most I've headbanged since Cannibal Corpse in September haha. Seriously though, it was one of the best gigs I've been to in quite some time. Chimaira never disappoint. I thought they were great the past 2 times I saw them as an opening act, but seeing them headlining was something else. At times I felt as if I was dreaming or watching a dvd, but then I quickly realised "Holy shit, this is real!"

I felt like that too ^. Having watched dvds, interviews, film clips and the like for the past 6 years, it just felt so surreal to actually see them right there in person in front of me. And meeting them afterwards... I just totally froze up! lol I had all these questions I wanted to ask but all I could say was 'its amazing to finally meet you!' to all 6 of them.

I could still probably go on all night about how great last night was, but I'll just sum up the highlights:
-Chimaira headlining tour!
-Good turnout, especially when you consider Fear Factory were playing down the road.
-CHOPPER T-SHIRTS!
-Secrets Of The Dead
-Painting The White To Grey
-Implements of Destruction
-Meet and Greet
-CHOPPER T-SHIRTS!
-Signed stuff
-Oh and did I mention CHOPPER T-SHIRTS!?

yeah the chopper tshirts were sold out in my size when i got to the merch stand (silly me for thinking that there'd still be size small tshirts left at the end of the gig). only one left was the gasmask with the tour dates on the back.

Were those Chopper shirts only for the Australian tour or something?

I would have thought so since Chopper is an Australian film and I haven't seen them anywhere else.

I was surprised there even small shirts there. I can only ever find medium or larger shirts when it comes to metal bands lol.
