Why Talley Wasn't in Slayer?

I have now heard to conflicting reports, clarity? Maybe mark can ask Kevin himself.

The way I heard it was..
Bostaph was leaving, and there was a recommended for only Kevin.
He auditioned and knocked the pants off, easily getting the part.
Then Lombardo decided he was back in the band.

The other side I heard was..
Kevin's mom said he couldn't be in the band.

What I heard was that Talley joined Slayer, but when he was asked for Chimaira, he left Slayer because Chimaira are the gods of metal.

Kevin's drumming style fits Chimaira's sound better anyways, Slayer rules and all but they're more of a straight-up thrash metal

Chimaira's pretty fucking good especially the new track (i'm really stoked on this new album) but i don't think Chimaira necessarily 'OWNS' them in fact i straight up disagree.

I dont think Chimaira own Slayer or Pantera (YET). In my opioin they have made one good album. Pantera and Slayer are fucking legends. They still have some way to go. Well well, my opoion anyhow,

Lamb of God is not the next Pantera. Lamb of God is good. They're not great. Chimaira, Opeth, Strapping Young Lad and DevilDriver all showed them up at Sounds of the Underground.

First of all the guitarists don't hold a candle to Dimebag. Just not even a comparison. Not only are they not as talented, their effects need some work.

Second, the drummer isn't Vinnie Paul. Sorry, no dice. He's solid, but he's not as good.

Third, the vocalist does NOT have the presence, attitude and talent that Phil had when he was with Pantera. If you ever saw Pantera live you'd know what I mean.

No, it will be a long time before a band comes out and just punishes people the way Pantera did. And even though I've referred to talent here, that isn't the only thing that matters. Pantera jumped onto the scene with an attitude and aggression that was pretty much non-existant during their day and brought Metal back from the brink of extinction. They turned a tiny, exclusive "I listen to metal in my bedroom behind a locked door" audience into a huge, pulsating mass of circle pits at a time when that scene was all but gone.

It will be a long fucking time before any band in metal comes along and makes that kind of impact. Lamb of God is not on par with that. And hey, they're a local band for me. I have a lot of pride in the fact that a good metal band is from my area. I still wouldn't compare them to Pantera. And in the long run I think we'll see Chimaira with a longer, more fullfilled career than LoG.

I have taken modern rock listeners, played them Lamb of God, had them shrug and say they don't like it and walk away. I've taken those same people, played them some Chimaira and had them say "holy fuck, that's heavy. Where'd you get that CD?" and run out and buy it. And I've seen the same reaction in pure metal listeners, death metal fanatics, power metal freaks, you name it. Take that for what it's worth but in my opinion Chimaira will be around long after Lamb of God are gone.

I dont think there will ever be a band that will come close to what pantera did, or as LQDMTL said it will be a very long time.
