*******
LAZARUS
*******

Eleven five ninety-four, six thirty morning
Woke up panicked sweating, with a mouth full of vomit
No idea what could be wrong
Blew it off as this illness was common
Went back to sleep, then the phone rings
Fell to the ground, as the news was haunting
Haunting

Lazarus, Lazarus ended his life, ungodly sacrifice
Lazarus, Lazarus, no reason why

Eleven eight ninety-four, six thirty evening
The first time we're seeing Lazarus unconscious
Dressed in the clothes he loved
Laid out with all of his favorites
The tears of so many friends
Looked around and this view was haunting
Haunting

Lazarus, Lazarus ended his life, ungodly sacrifice
Lazarus, Lazarus, no reason why

Never had an explanation
Never had a chance to thank him
Never had a chance to watch Lazarus rise
Never had a chance to thank him
Never had an explanation
Never had a chance to say goodbye

Lazarus, Lazarus ended his life, ungodly sacrifice
Lazarus, Lazarus, no reason why
Never had a chance to say goodbye

**************
TRY TO SURVIVE
**************

A new day arises
As the city sleeps
No compromising
No promises to keep

We stand on our own again
The rain falls hard
Revealing the memories
Ten years gone

The life we share
Doesn't mean anything
If we don't try to survive

Visions overloading
Pulling me through time
Back to the moment
When I realized
That our demise
Could have been caused by my hand

Been through just about everything
But we're still here
We still have so much to prove
To ourselves

The life we share
Doesn't mean anything
If we don't try to survive

There is so much left for us to do
Will you join me again?
I know I haven't been reliable in the past
You had a hard time figuring me out
But I can promise you one thing
I can promise you one thing
This journey's taught me to stand strong
Never again will I...
Surrender my fears
Surrender my dreams
Surrender my soul
To the infection
Surrender my fears
Surrender my dreams
Surrender my soul
To the infection

Man... didn't know it'd come down to these two. Tough choice. Lazarus, yes, is very deep and powerful. But it's about one specific thing. Try to Survive, while not as sombre, is applicable to more than one thing, and very empowering.

Tough, tough choice. Think I gotta go with Try to Survive at this point though.

Lazarus is a great song but as dimelives said it really only applies to one thing. Try To Survive is more broad but at the same time it has really good lyrics that more people can relate to.

So, "Try to Survive" taking the cake as best Chimaira lyrics yet, huh?

Not very many votes so far, though...

I'd say Lazarus because I can deeply connect with that song. While Try to Survive can appeal to several different things, Lazarus is much more personal... at least to me anyway.

Try To Survive is the winner! Nice choice I must say.

A rather unexpected winner at the beginning of this, I must say. But a very good, and very empowering lyrical work!
