View Full Version : What bands would you like to see as a support in Aus
Well this is mainly for the aussies. What bands would you like to support Chimaira next time. Last time we had Chimaira supporting In Flames.
Here would be my picks, don't care if it's possible or not just I would love to see these as a support for the guys when they return to Aus.
#1 Lamb of God
#2 Arch Enemy
#3 Soilwork
#4 The Haunted
#5 Ill Nino
INTL bands:
In Flames
Lamb Of God
Killswitch Engage
Misery Index
Amon Amarth
Trivium
God Forbid
Dry Kill Logic
As I Lay Dying
Candiria
*opens his winamp playlist to look for more*
AU bands
I Killed The Prom Queen
Parkway Drive
Blood Duster
I have a faint idea of who might be playing with em
Who would that be? :P
As I lay dying have already toured and KSE will be playing some shit punk gay bands in Oct. Jordan Mancino from As I lay dying is possibly one of the best drummers around apart from Talley ofcourse ;) and I like the band simply because of his drumming.
Haven't heard too many AU bands to have a opinion on them.
yeh I'm not too into the aussie scene. mainly just hear about em from friends who are really into the local hardcore scene. Daysend might get the local support slot, they are average imo. one of the girls from the official chimaira board hated them because apparently the bassist was sleeping with the head of the record company and got him to get them all the tours
There is only one song I thought was okay from Daysend only because I heard it on Chronix.
The only band I'm into from aus are The Butterfly Effect. Do you have an idea of the other support slot? pm me if so.

RoS, where abouts in Aus are you? "Van Demons Lnd" sounds like the Northern Territory :S
Anyway, my choices, yeah some of them are longshots:
-Macabre
-Ghostride
-Bleed The Sky
-Biohazard
-Candiria
-Vampire Mooose
-Superjoint Ritual (if Phil ever decides to get back on stage)
-Bloodsimple
-Will Haven (rumour has it, they've re-formed)
-3 Inches Of Blood (i'm not a fan, but it'd be awesome to see Elmo on stage)
As for Aussie bands, Parkway Drive again for sure, only Aussie band I've seen live, that hasn't sucked in some way!
Hobart dude, don't you know your Aussie history? not that you mainlanders call tasmania a part of australia. But I travel to melb to see bands. Superjoint would be a good choice but I don't see that happening haha.
Bleed the sky? The song Minion is not bad, but what are they trying to do be a chimaira clone which it looks like in the video and kind of sounds like but never will sound as good or near Chimaira.
Another band I would add would be Ektomorf or 36 Crazyfists ( yes I'm a fan )

I was actually born in Hobart, left when I was like 5, haven't been back since though. For some strange reason, I really like Bleed The Sky, I listened to a few songs on their website, my first impression was a Chimaira clone. I bought the cd because it was quite cheap lol, the album as a whole doesn't sound like a Chimaira clone, but the Minion video is rediculous.

I would like a band i havent seen before. So LOG &the Haunted would be killer, but if it one of those two bands, i dont think Chimaira would be the ones headlining. Otherwise something like 36 Crazyfists or Trivium.
I would really like to see SWITCHBLADE be the support as they are rocks.
I fucking HATE the butterfly effect.
If I killed the prom queen gets ANY support i will not go to that show, i hate that band so fucking much.
Chimaira deserve to head, I don't care about any fucking other bands as long as they play a decent set with new and old.
My Ultimate line-up would be:
Chimaira
Lamb of God
Machine Head
Sikth
Ice
Army of Me

YoYo's, Tassie used to be known as Van Diemen's Land back in the 1800's. I was born there too, explains why we're both a bit weird ;)
I honestly don't care who supports, as long as Chimaira headlines, that's all that matters. I'm not that into the local scene either, but I've seen Walk The Earth earlier this year and they were pretty good. Daysend were OK when they supported MH but not outstanding, but I don't mind if they get the slot. Another good Aussie band is Day Of Contempt, but I haven't heard anything from them for a couple of years.
Day of Contempt has the ex guitarist of Dimmu Borgir to my knowledge
also apparently Ricky Evandsand joined a metalcore band in Australia, would be funny if they got the support

The ex-Dimmu Borgir guitarist (Astennu?) was in a band called Infernal Method, who in my opinion are the best Melodic Death Metal band in Australia. They got back together recently but without him. He's been producing a couple of Aussie bands lately too (switchblade and another i can't remember). I'm into the local music scene quite a bit and there are a fuckload of quality bands around (mind you i hate i killed the prom queen, and parkway drive doesn't do much for me, but good luck to them recording with the killswitch guitarist). I know parkway drive and shallow grave are supporting Bleeding Through in Melbourne in 2 weeks, and shallow grave were voted as the best unsigned band in australia or victoria in kerrang not too long ago.
edit: Just remembered that Shallow Grave supported Chimaira on their o/18 Melbourne show last year

when talking with Mark in sydney about this he said he'd like to bring God Forbid back with them...that was then though so...
hopefully they tour at the same time as the Taste of Gayos tour and Killswitch support Chimaira as well as The Used
Astennu ( ex Dimmu Borgir) was a member of Stronger Than Hate (rip), probably my favourite band. I would kill all if they were still together and supported Chimaira. Otherwise, From These Wounds or Parkway Drive possibly? Bands like Prom Queen and Irrelevant won't get it probably because they are more hardcore/emocore bands...

(chaos tour)fuck that shit, i want Chimaira to go nowhere near that fucking shit.
I have my doubts on MH supporting Chimaira in Aus, There fanbase here is fucking huuuuuuuuge.
Back in those days Chimaira wern't as big I suppose, and probably their music catered to a different crowd? I don't know, I just don't see them supporting/being supported by those type of bands anymore. It's a bit like 18V supporting Slayer or something...
